Henry David Thoreau For A Sunday Morning

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

   Henry David Thoreau, Walden, 1854
Jabacue said, in reference to my accident, that he learned from an accident he had that everything happens for a reason. Since I read that, I've been wondering…then when I came upon the Thoreau quote, I felt so strongly that I had found a reason. I've lived here alone with my dogs, with few other distractions, for almost four years. I've paid attention to the changing seasons, the beauty of the desert mountains, the wildlife in the canyon, the clouds, the sun rise, and the sunset. But have I lived deliberately? Do I know what it means?  I still have much to learn and discover, that's all I know for now.

On a less serious note: Today, the dogs and I are having a spa day! We'll all get brushed and have pedicures. I'm not sure I can give anyone a pedicure with my arm in a sling, but I'll try.
