This and That on a Saturday Morning

It's raining again and as those who follow my blog regularly know, that's great news. Very little is coming down, but it's better than nothing. We enjoyed our trip down the mountain to Bakersfield the other day, but I was upset I didn't bring my camera. On the highway, we passed several trucks with the Oversize signs and what they carried were blades from the wind turbines. Those blades are enormous and I'm sorry I can't show them to you. When we got to the doctor's office, we found that spring had arrived in the city. Ornamental fruit trees were in blossom all around and all kinds of colorful spring flowers bloomed in large stone containers. More reasons for me to miss my camera.

My eyes are in great shape, no diabetes complications, and 20/20 vision with glasses on my left eye. My right eye has a small cataract that the doctor said would take many years to develop into a problem. He said my eyes were great for my age. Talk about age, dear Dee Ready, the person you thought might be me in that photo is just about 30 years younger than I. Born in 1940, I'm just a few years younger than you.  Now, of course, I do hope you will read this post. If not, everyone else may wonder what that was all about.

I'm very upset with this ticker tape that's running at the top of my blog. I tried to get rid of it by wasn't successful. And then they have all these offers for advertising that I don't want to clutter up my blog with. I'm really upset about this.
I also clicked on that offer to, what I thought was to try, the newer Google version of Blogger, and found that I can't get out of it. So now I can only blog in Google Chrome because my other browsers, like AOL, cannot support it. I want to get back to the old-fashioned way, but can't figure out how to do it. Or if Google tricked me and it isn't possible.
Then a friend said she would not leave comments any longer because Google wants her to sign up for something new so they can access her accounts or something like that.  She has commented all along since I started my blog. I'm waiting for her to respond to my questions about this.
And one final complaint, the font size on my Dashboard and when I leave comments in some popup screens, has gotten so small that I can barely read the words. Has this happened to anyone else? I will research these issues in the days to come, I haven't yet. If anyone has any ideas about this stuff, I would appreciate your help. Thanks!

  1. i don't see any ticker tape on your blog - or advertisements. i tried the new blogger interface, didn't like it, and promptly switched back, so i wonder if you get locked in if you stay too long.

  2. I don't see either of those from here. That's why I haven't done any changing, was afraid to mess with the status quo. Your blog looks very attractive. One thing did happen when I tried to leave this comment. The pop-up was blank. I looked at it a few seconds, but nothing was happening, so I left-clicked just to see if that would do anything. It gave me a message that Firefox couldn't reach the Google server. I clicked on "try again", and it all worked just fine. Love the misty look of today's photos.

  3. I don't see any of those, either. Which post were you talking about when Dee commented on a photo?

  4. Go to Dashboard and get into
My Account or wherever you can find My Account. Down at the bottom there is a link like this 'Looking for older account options and your Google Products?'
Try that and see if that will allow you to get back to the old look. I did this too and was able to change it back so I know there is a way you just have to be brave and dig for it. Nan

  6. Blogger and Google have been making trouble ever since they started the new interface. It is possible to go back to the old one, although I have ow got used to it. Persevere, and you might too.

But old ladies like us don't like too many innovations, do we?

  7. I don't understand why the sites have to fix what isn't broken, but oh, well. Lovely pix, and good to hear you have rain, AND a good to go from your doctor!

  8. Nope, I don't see a ticker tape either.

Yay for the moisture! Looks like the clouds are resting on the hills! Nice pictures, Inger!

  9. If I'm the only one that has to deal with the ads and ticker tape at the top, I'll leave that alone for now. I ran a cleanup program and it restored the font size here in the popup screen to normal. I hope the screen itself is back to normal too. Thanks, Nan, for your tip. I tried it, and it didn't take me back to the actual old dashboard, but to a sort of description of the old dashboard. All the things included on it were in writing only. I have to look into this some more in Google help or Blogger help. I have read about the issues so many bloggers have now that these two are trying to work together or tear each other apart or whatever. Thanks for your comments and the info about the ticker tape.

  10. I know how big those wind turbine blades are! We saw dozens of them at the Halifax docks waiting to be loaded onto big cargo ships. They were HUGE!! It took two giant cranes to hoist them up and into place on the ship. Maybe they were the same ones, Inger!
No ticker tape that I can see from this end. If you hadn't signed up for Blogger Ads, you shouldn't be getting any. It may be that you are due to a fluke or something. You should be able to 'turn them off'. Not much help I know.

  11. I'm not seeing anything either. Maybe those who do see it are unable to comment. I hate to change and still have my same ole same ole I had from the beginning.
    Wonderful news on your eyes.

  12. Dear Inger,
I broke out laughing when I got to your comment about you and the picture from the owl posting. My question in that earlier comment just goes to show that I think of you as young because you seem so young-spirited. Wise, but young at heart. And that's so wonderful in a friend.

    Peace.

  13. Nothing unusual at the top of the blog I see.

And I'm not in the least tempted to change anything with the way I blog.

Sorry you missed some pictures. But the ones you took are wonderful. I don't wish you a tornado, but I do hope you get a decent rainstorm.

    Blessings and Bear hugs.

  15. When I changed my blog to Janie Junebug, I had problems with my photo and with fonts and the place to click to see my personal profile was there twice and I couldn't get rid of it. I put out calls for help (a couple of blog posts saying I don't know what to do). Joshua helped with my photo and the font, and dirtycowgirl gave me the html code that made the two profiles go away. I still have one. I'm sorry I don't know how to help you, but I bet you have some readers who are techies. I'm happy you had some rain, and I'm happy because it's cold in Florida. We've had a very warm winter, which will mean lots of mosquitoes and fleas. I hope it gets down to freezing and stays there every night for at least a week. It will kill off some of the bugs and get the pollen count down (I hope). We're already having spring allergies here, and I never got over my fall allergies.

    Love,
    Janie

  16. Sorry I didn't notice this before I posted my first comment, but I don't see a ticker tape or adverts. A few times I have not been able to see things on my blog that my readers could see. I switched to the new blog interface a while back and hated it. I switched back. I don't know what it would take switch back if you're lost in Google. That's another techie question.

    Love,
    Janie

  20. Im using Google Chrome browser now and I can manage your blog fine. I did have problems with another person's blog when they switched to updated Blogger, and I couldn't access it.

I have almost stopped using facebook now because they are so blatantly trying to track what you do. I also run a scan regularly to get rid of the Adclick etc. software.

  21. I did not see a new blogger interface or any ticker tape on yours or mine. maybe they are doing it a few at a time. i did get aggravated because i use google as my homepage and they changed that, but i can change back but only for a short while. it is all very aggravating and i to am sick of all the ads that pop up in my face. i have not added any to my blog because they aggravate me so bad.
