Clouds at Sunset

You must habit yourself to the dazzle of the light and of every moment of your life.
~ Walt Whitman

When I found this quote, one that I had not read before and really liked, things were going well here. Then they took a turn for the worse, I suspect because my husband overdid it again. He is eating really well and does not take any food or drink he is not supposed to have. So I suspect doing too much and not resting enough. So the other day, things fell apart, he had another attack of ammonia on the brain, or hepatic encephalopathy, a terrible side effect of a failing liver that causes confusion and unrecognizable outbursts of angry and weird words, directed at me, since I'm the only one here. His liver is supposed to be good, nearly perfect for the coming three-month period, according to UCLA, but I still think he has to take good care and balance his activities and with rest.

Today he was feeling so bad he just had to stay in bed. We both walked the dogs, then he ate and went back to bed, while I took some of the trash to the dump. I think he's feeling better now.

This morning, I heard the pitter patter, not of little feet, but of rain drops on the tarp outside our window. Then a strong, heavy rain, followed; the kind that creates flash floods. But the rain didn't last long enough to do any harm, it just dazzled my moment.

"Stay still my soul, and peace will find you." My quote, but who knows, I may still cry. And that's OK.
