A New Beginning.....

I want to write a tribute to my husband and also let you know about the wonderful celebration of his life that took place on May 6th, but I have been exhausted and there's so much to do.....

Hopefully, I will get to it soon.

In the meantime, I'm posting this to let you know that, although I'm more tired than I have ever been in my life, I am doing OK. My days are filled with both sadness and joy and that's how it will be for a long time to come, I'm sure. Family, friends, and you all have been so wonderful and that's what brings the joy. And Samson and Faith, of course. And the house finches that sing their pretty songs every morning as the sun rises over the mountains.

The service was on Wednesday last week. On Thursday, it rained, it poured down all day long, so wonderful, so needed. Then Friday, Rachael came up with her friend, Luz, who quickly became my friend too. A lovely, lovely woman.

Rachael drove us up on Tehachapi mountain to show Luz the monastery. We know sister Mary Magdalene, who manages the gift shop, and Rachael thought to ask her for prayers for Errol. When all was said and done, and I contributed a small amount to the monastery,  the sister said, "for this we can ask the Father to say a mass for Errol." She was so sweet, and even though Errol had moved away from his Catholic faith, I said thank you. Then she said, "please come up here often, you will find peace here." I will, it is lovely there.

Then we drove up to around 6,000 feet, where we found snow, saw pogo nip in the distance, and got very, very cold.

Rachael and Luz in the snow.

Afterwards, we had a nice lunch and then we went thrift store shopping. I was so cold, I bought a really nice, really big and warm sweater. After a visit to the Mountain Spirit Center, here in the canyon, we went back to my house.

Where Faith and Samson were on their worst behavior, jumping on both Rachael and Luz. Some dog training is in store for Faith. I will have time now. We took the dogs out and went down to a gully where Luz and Rachael picked rocks for Luz's rock/succlent garden. A lovely day, a new life, beginning, slowly........

These flowers are for you my dear, dear blogger friends. Thank you for all your loving comments, thank you for sending your followers over to leave comments for me, thank you for being concerned about me, thank you for your cards and emails, and most of all: Thank you for caring.

I don't think I will be back to a regular blogging schedule, to reading and commenting on posts, and so on, for a while yet. I just need time to get my life together, I need to mourn, to cry, to smile, to work on moving on. Much love and many hugs to all of you.

Mommy, what's dog training?
