Rust ~ Post No. 5

A few rusty pieces from Ojai. The town has become pretty fancy since I used to come here regularly. Not surprising, perhaps, since I first came here more than 40 years ago. Still, it was nice to find some of the old vibe.

  1. we often talk about what our town looked like 27 years ago when we moved in this house, so much change it is unrecognizable. I like all your rusty things today..

  2. There are many collectors who like to gather rusty objects and appreciate the weathered look. I tend to think of rust as the same as old age, it happens with or without our permission. It also reminds us of the forgotten 'things' in our world which we discard for newer shiny things. . .kind of like crows and some other birds-shiny objects distract us.

  3. With age, my knees sometimes feels a bit rusty too. lol.
I remember when people used those kind of weights to measure stuff that was bought by the pounds. Now everything is digital and in Canada, weights are measured in metric.
Everything changes with the passing of time.
Have a great rest of May.
    Hugs, Julia

  5. Is that a set of baby weighing scales? Looks familiar from about 50 plus years ago. Rust is another sign of maturity!!!

  10. My body feels rusty lately! I saw recently photos of early L.A. from the early 1800's. It was hard to reconcile them with the monster city that exists today! Midnight, my kitten, is writing my post for me tonight!

  11. Hi Inger - bet there are some gems hidden away ... it amazes me how some people are so creative with their ideas when they find something wonderful from the past. Glad you had a happy time in Ojai ... and were able to check out the older haunts you remember ... cheers Hilary
