I absolutely love this post and the ones you’ve done on the traditions of Christmas. What I love the most is that it seems there were things going on throughout the entire season that had meaning and tradition. The almond in the porridge for example. All the wonderful drinks and food. I can’t imagine all that food and of course unique food to us here in the US. Ox tongue...wow. Your memories are so vivid and I’m so glad you are documenting them here. They are to be cherished for sure. Your Grandpa being Santa and asking if any good kids were in there--that is just wonderful. I bet your little hearts were beating 90 miles a minute. Thank you for sharing this with us. Your Christmas was quite sim...Good Morning, Inger!<br /><br />Your Christmas was quite similar to ours, in that the "big feed" was on Christmas Eve, some of the food was different, but yah, I don't care for pickled pigs feet either - yuk! Christmas Eve was our BIG day for celebrating too and the gathering of the family, and we even had the old guys and their nasty smelling cigars.<br /><br />Your post brought that old memory back to life for me, thank you!
