Sleeping Arrangements

When it's time to go to bed, Faith stands at the side of the bed and looks at me. She doesn't respond to just come, I also have to pat the bed with my hand. Then she jumps up on her "blankie." I tell her, "go to your end of the bed." This she does, and soon goes to sleep.

I usually wake up sometime in the middle of the night for a bathroom trip. This is where I find Faith. If her head is not on my pillow, it's only because she knows she's supposed to stay on her blanket.

"Goodnight sweet girl," I say before I go back to sleep.

In the morning she has turned around and come a bit closer.

  1. Does your Faith know my dog Bounce? They have similar sleeping habits.

  3. We used to have a cat who put us to bed at night - he'd come and sit on the floor by the siting room door and howl at us periodically and noisily until we'd get up and head for the bedroom. When we were in, he'd walk around the bed, up on top, across it as if checking on both of us and then down the other side. Then he'd head out for his night time prowl ... it used to make us laugh. I miss him.
Thank you for reminding me - a furry friend who loves us is worth so much. Your pictures of Faith are so sweet :) Fil

  4. What sweet photos of your girl. Todd and Max both sleep on the bed. Todd waits for no invitation, Max is just like Faith, waits for one, and has his spot, and somehow scooches right next to me during the night. I find comfort in that.

  6. They just did a study that women sleep better with a dog in the bed. She sure tries to give you your space but can't help snuggling. So glad you have eachother.

  7. Dogs are the best warmer-uppers. Our black lab kept my feet warm; he circled around the TV room and then plopped on my feet. I miss Buddy.

  8. Aw... Faith is such a sweet girl who loves you so much. I love having my dogs snuggle with me when I sleep. R just moves onto the bed and Shyla needs an invitation - but you probably already guessed that!

  9. Faith just needs the reassurance that her friend is by her side. :-) Gypsy, my other cat, used to do the same thing. Those photos are priceless.

  10. Dear Inger, Maggie also responds to the pat on the bed. She will pad her way swiftly to the side of the bed, jump up and move to where I sit, beneath the reading light that's on the bedpost. She basks in that light. In the morning, she is there by my pillow. If I'm sleeping on my good ear, I do not hear the alarm go often and she has assumed the responsibility of waking me to the day by patting my cheek! A fine way to wake to the beauty of the day. Peace.
