Another Puzzle Done

My life has been filled with more activities than I'm used to this  month. And it's been hot. So relaxing with a puzzle has been really fun. And I finally finished the dog portrait puzzle. It was difficult to fit it in one picture with my phone so that's why the picture above is a bit uneven and tilted.

I had thought it would be easy since the dogs were so different from each other and each had a different color background.

Not so, I obviously have no talent for jigsaw puzzles. Something I find a bit annoying, since I'm usually pretty good at problem solving.

Only good thing about me and puzzles is that I don't give up. It may take me a very long time to finish one, but I will complete it.

And I will start a new one soon, still only 300 pieces. We'll see how it goes.

I tell you this though: Every time a piece fits into another piece, I feel a little thrill and a tiny amount of pride. It reminds me of childhood games and how proud I would be when I solved something, found the right clue, or won the game.

I think solving puzzles is a good thing at any age. I also do crossword puzzles, and enjoy Word Master on my Kindle.

  2. Hello Inger,
I love the doggie puzzle, so cute. I just finished a 1,000 piece puzzle of an Old World map. I do not enjoy walking out on the hot humid days. Take care, have a happy weekend!

  4. I'm glad that you and others find fun and satisfaction in solving puzzles.I usually find these feelings in trying to help myself in the house with learning how to repair/replace things, as I live alone and hate to depend on others.

  5. I like the way the puzzle looks and congratulations on sticking with it until you got completed it. I stick with things but only with things I like to do and I've never been able to complete a puzzle actually I don't know if I could because I've never tried to. I would start one and quit before I even started. They are good for brain exercise and I know many people who always have a puzzle going because they love doing it

  6. Good for you for sticking to it. The dogs all have big nose. A fun looking puzzle.
I love, love doing puzzles and the biggest one I put together years ago was a 5000 piece puzzle and it is huge and mounted on a plywood board and is hanging in the office in front of my desk. It was a puzzle my oldest daughter had bought for her sister but she quickly gave up on it. It took me a long time but I got it done to show her persistence. Of course, I always start by finding border pieces.

My method is to sort colors in paper plates and I stack them so that they don't tale up so much place on the table and when I'm looking for a particular piece, I grab the plate with that color and it makes it quicker to find the piece so I can stay focus and I also rejoice with every piece I fit in.

    Hugs,
    Julia

  7. Love that puzzle. That is one I could get behind. Could almost be Faith in the third row but no sign of a Samson look alike. I would love to do them but having a cat makes puzzles impossible.

  8. We love doing this kind of puzzle, where there are different separate photos. They are usually very easy. But we started one just like this and could not finish it. Because a lot of the dogs had the same color fur.

  15. That is pretty enough to frame! My old boss had several framed Thomas Kinkaid puzzles in her office and they were so pretty. Impressive that you don't give up! Stay cool out there in your desert!

  17. I don't do puzzles because of the cat. I would only be able to work on them at the kitchen table but Beanie has claimed that as her own to stretch out all over - (we're always washing it off arggg)..It's a losing battle so we let her. But when I have done them in the past i always enjoyed them. Good for you - at our ages... it's so good to use the brain a lot. Keeps it in better shape for memories and such. I'm assuming being more the high desert that your temps are too much warmer than we get here. I could be wrong - i'm usually wrong according to my husband, lololol... or is that the other way around...

  19. Hi human friend, Ojo here! Puzzles are better with Dogs on them! I prefer food puzzles myself, like Kongs or my rolling treat ball. But this looks like a pretty good puzzle for humans!
