On this first Sunday in Advent, I will light the first candle in my Advent candle holder and think of friends and family with love.
This morning I woke up early and actually lit the candles. This is enough for me to feel the spirit of Christmas. And I'm so glad that the child in me never quite disappeared.
Thanks Inger - 'tis the season of being peaceful and this year waiting ... I hope you and yours are safe - look after yourself ... with care and love - Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful. And I see that you have Samson and face framed and sitting on your mantle. What is the wooden thing that has the feathers in it
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lovely tradition
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely tradition. We lighted our Advent candle at mass last evening in our church while I sang an Advent hymn by myself because of Covid... It was beautiful to see the little children who will be making their first communion to light the first candle. I don't have an advent wreath with candles at my house but I should make one.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and well.
Hugs,
Julia
Advent - a time of expectation and anticipation, a time of remembrance of beloved ones, leading to Christmas
ReplyDeleteYour picture looks peaceful and dignified!.
Thank you for this peaceful entry. It's good to look forward.
ReplyDeleteThere really is a warmth and magic and warmth and magic that only candles can create.
ReplyDeleteIt's not disappeared for me either.
Loved the warm glow of the candles with Samson and Faith watching.
ReplyDeleteThis is special, as this year so many will celebrate alone, not sharing the time with family who cannot travel, or they just feel safer to stay at home too.Samson, Faith ,and your candles show us all, age does not matter when the seasons come.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree about that child that lives within, Inger. I, too, have it, my friend and NEVER want to loose it...:)jp
ReplyDeleteHard to believe it is so close to Christmas. I think we all still have a child in us somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat is so poignant. Simple traditions can warm the heart.
