Best Spent $$ Ever!

The Tractor Guy came yesterday and mowed for eight hours.

He mowed the front yard and the field down below, he mowed around the container and in both fields facing east.

He clearned the 100 ft around the house, required by law for fire department access, and then some. There are still some spots he couldn't get to that I have to do, but not much.

Compared to the above picture and the header photo. Phew, I'm so happy today and feel so much safer. Wildfires are a reality here and they scare me. Really scare me. Not many things scare me, but wildfires do, so it feels good to be a bit safer.

I wake up early every day, but I take my time eating breakfast, reading, crocheting, and so on. Yesterday, I went out around 6:15, drove old Betsy around the property and picked up all kinds of junk and debris that I have looked at for years and never done anything about. That feels so good.

And it was lovely to be outside that early.....

  2. i am so glad you got the photo of the before because it is so very beautiful, but i do understand why it had to be mowed down and glad you found the right man to do it for you..... that is a lot of work you did in the back of the truck.

  4. Hi Inger - looks just so neat and tidy .. what a great dollar spend and that relief for you to be able to be without worry from wildfires. Then being able to drive Betsy around picking up odd pieces of metal or old machinery ... so much cleaner - and that will give you peace of mind too ... well done. Enjoy the weekend admiring that lovely view ... cheers and hugs - Hilary

  5. Looking great! Maybe you can use some of that for mulch or compost.

It always feels good when a job is completed.

  6. Inger, now you need an M4 style carbine, 6 thirty round magazines, and about 1200 rounds of 5.56 ball. Oops, forgot, you live in CA. Well, like old Joe Biden said, get a shotgun.

I remember when that murderer was running around loose out there and you had no weapon. It worried me, and still does. How about that neighbor lady who is comfortable with firearms. Maybe she could teach you to use a shotgun......

  7. I always liked working outside, too, cleaning, trimming, making things look orderly. It's good you'e keeping safe, Inger. After seeing the wildfires in Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, I see what devastation can be caused. Please stay safe and have a plan of action if you need to get away.

  14. Isn't it wonderful what a man and his machine can do? So glad you have all that cut down. Besides the fire danger being lessened, all that was tick territory for the dogs.
