For a long time I have suspected my clothesline of being capable of decapitating a tall person, like myself, if the winds blew hard enough.
Friday morning, I put some sheets to wash, then hung them on the line and put some of Faith's blankets in the washing machine. The wind had picked up a lot when I went out to hang the blankets, so to avoid getting hurt, I decided to go to the back lines, wind at my back, and hang them there. But first I had to pick some clothes pins off the line at the front, where the sheets hung. I very carefully pulled a few pins off the line, and then it happened: A strong and forceful gust of wind came through, blew a sheet and the dangerous line in my face. I stepped back, onto a rock, fell over backwards, hit my head on another rock, injured my head, where I still have a bump to prove it. I also injured just about everything else, including that muscle in your abdomen, the one that hurts when you cough, sneeze, or try to get out of your bed. That one still hurts as does my head, but other than that, I'm feeling much better.
So much pain, but at least Faith got her blankies so she can sleep in bed (on top of bed) with her mommy.
Oh, and before all that happened, first thing in the morning, before I have my coffee, I open my refrigerator door and the whole thing shakes and makes a loud and strange noise. At the same time, a flame pops out of one of the electric outlets by my kitchen counter, as it shorts out.
Glenn was away, but Joyce gave me the number of a guy in the canyon, someone I have seen at the CERT meetings. He came over and did a good job checking everything and fixing it.
To get hurt has been frustrating for me, as I have been so excited about my new car, wanting to drive it and to have it checked out. But it could all have been a lot worse. So I am grateful things worked out and, as a bonus, I got to rest some more.

Oh Inger - well frankly I'm glad the knock-over by a washing line wasn't worse ... and then so lucky about the fridge fire ... gosh so glad it's all got fixed. You just take care and look after yourself ... wind is good - but not be blown over by the washing ... with thoughts and here's to healing - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeletePS you need to read my I post - actually the link across from it ... but when you can laugh!!
http://positiveletters.blogspot.ca/2018/04/i-is-for-canadian-islands.html Susan's post is hilarious ...
That sounds painful. Happy to hear you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteGood thing you were able to get that outlet fixed. That would have worried me. (Or I would have shoved the fridge to another outlet and hurt myself)
Faith looks apologetically worried.
wind is good for the cloths to get dried. Need to be careful with electricity. Take care...
ReplyDeleteThat is the start of a very good story!!! I was felled by a clothes line!!! So glad you were not knocked out,and will recover. And Faith has lovely fresh blankets that will have fluffed up beautifully in that wind.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I never knew that hanging clothes outdoors could be so hazardous. I'm glad that you didn't got knocked out or hurt more seriously. I hope that you mend real fast and will be able to go places with your new car... Faith looks like she appreciate her clean blanket. I love the sent of clothes dried on the line.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Hugs, Julia
OH NOOOO i am so sorry to hear this. A fall is never good, it does shake up everything, hope you are better today and will get better each day. at first i thought you ran into the clothes line as in across your throat, but would never have thougth about it knocking you down. i have never heard of flames coming out of outlets and now have something else to put in my fear bucket... that is so scary. glad someone could come and check it out and hope your fridge is ok. it might be a good idea to get a dryer??
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, you certainly were not having a good day.
ReplyDeleteWow who knew hanging clothes on the line could be dangerous. It is almost funny except that you got hurt. Hope you heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteI tried to make this a funny post, but don't think I succeeded.
DeleteYikes, who knew hanging clothes was so hazardous. You really were mauled by that line. Hope you are feeling much better now and glad you got sparky fixed by a pro. That could have been dangerous.
ReplyDeleteDear Inger, what a strong wind--force of nature--gale!!!!--that must have been. Sometimes the winds blow so hard here, in what the meteorologists call "Tornado Alley" that the whole house and all the trees creak. And anything not pinned down flies through the air, hitting the windows and the siding. I have found it scary since moving here. Nothing like that in Minnesota!
ReplyDeleteBut I just am so glad that the wind didn't pick you up and throw you down farther away from your home. Then you might have busted several bones. Still, that clothes line has a lot to answer for.
I'm relieved that all this wasn't worse, but it's still bad enough. Take care and enjoy Faith's presence in your life. How is Samson???? Peace.
Oh, Dee, Samson needs an update all of this own. Soon.....
DeleteOh no... I'm glad that you're generally okay although that sounds very very scary. I hope that you heal quickly, and that your two canine family members snuggle with you as you heal.
ReplyDeleteNothing like that in Minnesota!

Oh no! Dear Inger I am so glad you are ok!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your friend Happyone: "Who knew hanging clothes on the line could be dangerous"
Lots of hugs!
