Back From A Long Break

I think my brain got a bit scrambled when I fell and hit that rock. For a long time afterwards, I found myself unable to write or do anything creative. I didn't even learn my new camera. Still haven't. I also got a terrible cold that turned into bronchitis, which left me exhausted from all that coughing.  I don't get sick very often, so I found out that coughing a lot makes you very, very tired.

Enough of that, feeling much better now. I hope I can be back to blogging as I have missed you all, have missed taking pictures, and writing my little blurbs.

Sorry I didn't get back to most of you who wondered where I was and if I was OK. It was so good of you to ask. I don't know if  you've ever had a brain freeze, but it makes you lose your politeness as well, I guess.

But enough of that, all is well here. Samson is doing remarkably well as far as his eyes are concerned. I give him one drop in each eye in the mornings and that's it. The groomer told me she uses a flea comb, you know those things for cats, to comb through the brown stuff that leaks from his eyes. (At the same time as he gets his facial!!!) I haven't had a facial in my life, and my dog apparently gets them every time he sees his groomer. Anyhow, I use them now and there is very little left after I comb it out. He's still on kidney meds, but was better last time he was checked.

And Faith is fine, so happy and excited about life. It really makes me happy to just be around the two of them. I'm thinking about having her DNA done. I really want to know what else is in there. That fierce bark of hers, I wonder. Still, she's no hunter, just an excellent retriever. There was a mouse in the bathroom and I, of course, yelped. She came running to see what the fuss was about, looked the mouse in the eye and turned around and left! I think that eliminates the Jack Russell terrier I had wondered about. Maybe all terriers, so I am very curious, but not sure I should spend the $200 for the best place, which is Cornell University. We will see. After all, I never really go anywhere or do anything much that costs money, so.......

And I turned 78 at the summer solstice! How great to celebrate that! Maybe Faith's DNA results could be a delayed present just for me.

  1. Happy belated Birthday to you! Welcome back to blogging! Glad you feel better.
The header to your blog is superb!

  2. I was happy to see you back on Blogger and happy belated birthday to you.

Those coughs are horrible. I have gotten them and they seem to hang on forever. Stress and allergies are the culprits for me. Glad that you are over it now.

Spend your money on what give you joy. My daughter had the DNA done on her new puppies. They came out as various hounds which was not surprising. I do not know what company she used.

  3. all your desert photos are looking good, glad you are back to show me things I never see. so happy both dogs are well, sad to hear you have been ill. I know on the rare occasion I get sick, I don't blog either. to have fun writing and creating we must be healthy... I say keep your 200 dollars, faith is full of love and fun and what good will it do to know what she came from.

  4. I'm glad you are feeling better too and getting ready for a fun birthday. I can think of a lot of ways to spend the money too....and that would not be one of them! heehee! But it's your birthday and you get to choose! Love your photos! Hugs, Diane

  5. Great to have you back, Inger, and I don't know how I missed that you hit your head. I'm glad you are okay. Health issues sometimes keep me from blogging too. That would be great to do a DNA on Faith. I would be curious... Glad Samson is doing well. Give him and Faith hugs from Gracie.

  6. Belated happy Birthday Inger - a wonderful day to celebrate a birthday :) And good to hear you're well again and that your furry companions are doing well too.
I love seeing your desert photos - as someone else commented, you're giving us a glimpse of places we're not likely to see for real.
    Best wishes. Fil

  7. Belated Happy Birthday and glad you are back in the saddle again. So sorry you have been struggling so. Hope you aren't anywhere near all the fires. The sky looks clear in your picture.
Would be interesting to know our dogs heritage but $200 is kind of steep. If you find a cheaper way, let us know.

  8. Oh - how good to see you ... I forgot your birthday - sorry for that - however excellent to see you're up and about and ready to be blogging again. Good news for the beloved pets ... Samson and Faith ... I'll write again - just off to Victoria ... when I get myself organised! Big hugs and so so good to see you - Hilary

  9. I didn't know you hit your head--glad you're feeling better. So good to see you back blogging!

  12. So nice to see a post from you. Sorry to hear you've been ill but happy you are better now. Nice to hear the dogs are fine too.

  13. happy birthday dear bean!
I have always loved the line from the first Crocodile Dundee movie.
he said when he asked the natives who had raised him what day he was born they said
    "in the summertime."
and that's good enough for me! I was too. mine was my 73rd summertime!
so glad you're feeling better these days. hug the puppies for me.

  14. Glad to see you back and well. Happy Belated Birthday!

  15. Dear Inger, I think the idea of giving yourself a delayed birthday gift and finding out Faith's ancestry is a good one. Go for it! And happy belated birthday. It's good to have you back. I experienced brain fog for 18 months when Meziere's was its most virulent. It was a time truly of feeling not quite part of the world. As if there were a sheer curtain between me and reality. I'm so glad to learn that your brain "freeze" is melting. Peace.

Thanks for leaving a comment.. ~~ Inger
