Several years ago, I posted something every Tuesday I called Tuesday's Treasures and Things. My treasures varied from fine china I had inherited, my grandmother's copper pots, paintings, treasured gifts from friends, to the wild animals of the canyon.
Then the other day, Diane of Welcome to Lavender Dreams posted some of her favorite things and gave me the idea to do that as well.
This time around, the treasures will be mainly thriftstore finds, gifts from friends, things that were on sale at various places and in the many catalogs I receive every month.
I'm finally using my new Nikon camera that I bought in April. And the above two are the first Nikon pictures I'm posting.
I have this sense that I want strong colors in my home for my old age. I feel like I want a Mexican house, a Latin home, colorful and fun. Mine is not that, but I try to brighten it up with fun things when I come upon them.
The tray above was given to me yesterday by my friend and neighbor Joyce. The sugar and cream set I bought recently because I needed a small pitcher for the milk I get from Joyce's cows. My grandmother's small cream dish was too delicate, so when I saw this set on sale in the catalog from Through the Country Door, I decided to buy it. Here's a bigger picture:
There will be more to come. Have a great week, everyone.
I love that sugar and creamer set!
ReplyDeletethe sugar and creamer are really cute and very much to my taste. I love antiques or things that look antique.. waiting to see more treasures or finds or treasures that are finds
ReplyDeleteCute set!
ReplyDeleteI love your new pieces, Inger. So bright and cheery. I used to post photos of the treasures that would find at the secondhand stores until I decided that I was bringing too much stuff that I like and it was cheap. The store has increased it's price and I seldom buy things unless I really need it... Some things were needed, some were very useful and the rest were decorative. Now I seldom go treasure hunting because I have to declutter and downsize. I live in a big house so there a lot of places to put things but it was fun finding these treasures.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julia
How sweet of you to mention me, Inger! I'm like you....I like vibrant colors now and love your treasures. And I'm proud of you for using your new camera. It's always a challenge to learn a new one. Enjoy your day sweet friend! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love color, too!! Once I wanted to paint a 1' diagonal stripe floor to ceiling on one of the living room walls, but Bud wouldn't let me.
ReplyDeleteI love the sugar and creamer, they are just adorable!! Both the shape and color are perfect. The tray is beautiful too. I recently bought some salad plates at Target that look very much like it. I love looking at peoples thrift store and shopping finds! I have meant to start posting this subject myself, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
ReplyDeletePretty sugar and creamer set.
ReplyDeleteI too love color and your pieces certainly are that. Hey, some of my walls are orange.
ReplyDeleteMine too!!
DeleteHi Inger - that set is delightful ... but as too the plate is just wonderful to see. I'm with you - I love African, Persian colours around my home ... yet most of my art is black and white ... c'est la vie. Love this idea and look forward to more Tuesday treasures - Cheers to you - Hilary
ReplyDeleteYour post with the display of the above lovely items, reminded me of my own post I did on favorite basic items: Medimix soap bar (India), Polenta (cornmeal) from Italy, Papermate mechanical pencils (USA), Organic Apple Puree (Holland).
ReplyDeleteI might write another post with some more recent favorite items that help me/give me pleasure, in my daily life.
What a great idea to do a favorite things post! I like it! I have always been drawn to colors... very nice set! so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having lots of bright colors around. We don't have that either but maybe I'll try to head that way with future things.
ReplyDeleteperfect!!!
