Driving Ms Inger

That would be me, driving myself to town for nothing and then deciding to make the best of it.

Since April, I've ordered food online from Walmart and then, following the instructions from WM, picked it up. Piece of cake, right?

I put in an order day before yesterday and was ready to go and pick it up yesterday morning, but when I checked, the order had not gone through. It was there, but had not been processed.

I fixed a few things, or so I thought, and this morning, even though I didn't get the acknowledgement from WM, I was so sure all was well and set off for town.

Some 15 miles later, I arrived at WM. And, of course, my order had not been received. I just couldn't understand how I could do something correctly for five months, twice a month at least, and now be so completely lost.

Fortunately, two chirpy, helpful, and technically advanced young people, WM employees, appeared, took my phone and showed me what I had neglected to do. A simple double-check that the order submitted was the order I wanted. So now I know and will, hopefully, remember it.

Driving home, I decided to make the best of it and take some pictures so I could post about my lost morning, and sort of show off how I didn't let it get me down. OH, well...

  1. LIfe is never simple. Sounds like you were able to resolve it. We haven't been to Walmart since February.

    1. WM is the only place in town where I can order online and pick up. You can at Albertsons too, but I haven't figured that one out and may never get to it.

  2. We have not ordered from WM. However, in CA I have often taken advantage of order online and pick-up, or better yet, order and get it delivered. We would love to have that here - but it isn't available. As for your unnecessary trip... hey, it got you out of the house!

  3. Hi Inger, your trip to town wasn't a total loss anyway. You learned something new today. So it cost you a little trip, like Dreaming stated, it got you out of the house and that's a good thing. It looks like it was a beautiful day for a little drive.

  4. Well, it does look like a beautiful trip. And not a wasted one, because you found people to tell you how to fix it from now on!

  7. Hi Inger - fun post to write up ... just glad it's all sorted - I do hope you've written down that last bit?! I know I think I've remembered, but a few weeks later - I struggle to bring it back to my brain! So pleased you got the order sorted and were able to pick it up. The journey in/out looks relatively peaceful - beautiful sky - love the beauty you show us. Stay safe and enjoy those journeys ... Hilary

  8. I've never ordered anything.
I probably NEED to just so I'd know how to do it if I ever have to.
it all seems so complicated to me. and not sure I want other people picking out groceries for me anyway. so your post is helpful. I guess I will when I HAVE to! LOL. xo

  9. The past few weeks I have been bemoaning the fact that I am forgetting how to do things simple things and I am forgetting words that I've known my whole like life. I to find the things that I have always done perfectly now I stumble around doing them. I guess your morning was not a total waste since you got to get away from home of course it was wasted gas and wasted time but then we do have lots and lots of time to waste

    1. My time get doubly wasted because I get so, so tired after each trip to town, groceries to unload or no groceries at all. And the last word I forgot was Altoid -- you know, for the mints.

  10. That has happened to us also, at least twice. We didn’t go to the store though, but it was so frustrating to have to recreate our order.

  11. We've had to learn a lot of new things this summer. And it's best not to get upset or bothered by all the things that don't work. Plan B...I'm always on an alternate plan!

    1. As you saw, I took some pictures and created a blog post instead of getting upset.

  12. Actually the order didn't work but you learned how to correct it thanks to some nice employees. Also you got out and had a nice drive. I find just driving around very therapeutic these days. I haven't tried the pick up yet but probably will soon.

  13. At least you got out of the house for a while! Technical stuff can be so frustrating sometimes!

  14. At least they helped you figure it out what you did wrong. Not many people out driving! We live about the same distance from a WM as you do.

  15. Glad that it didn't get you down. But, you did have a beautiful drive with wide open skies and mountains in the background, a car that works fine and eventually you got your groceries...nature is great, God is great and all things are always moving along... albeit with a little twist and turn and joke put in the way sometimes.

  16. Dear Inger, I wrote a message but somehow it got lost. The same happened the last couple of times I visited your blog. I must be doing something wrong--like you and the Walmart order. Anyway, I read your previous posting about getting ready if you and the dogs have to evacuate. I'm relieved that you've done this. I've thought you and hoped for the best.

As to the food and the store: I order from a grocery store and have done so since i had to give up driving nearly 4 years ago. and yet just recently I neglected to do that double click and no food was delivered!

Take care. You are dear to me. Peace.
