Rob-bear, I never saw before that there were two deer in the photo. I must have known when I took it some years ago. Thanks for pointing that out. Misha, they are deer, but I can't remember now what kind exactly. Beautiful though, aren't they?
It's a California Mule Deer. And the stuff on the antlers is called velvet. Little did I know what it is used for. Google it and you will find all kinds of interesting information, like build muscles and enhance a man's sexual performance. I had no idea!

Dear Inger, it looks like there is moss or suede or something on the antlers. Or are those prongs? What kind of deer are they.
