I'm a bit late for Midsummer's Eve, so let me wish my friends and family in Sweden a happy summer with lots of sunshine and warm weather. The latter is not always a sure thing over there.
And for my friends and family in America ~ well, it is hard and difficult to read about one horror after another, tornadoes, tropical storms, hurricanes, floods, and fires. My heart goes out to my family, friends, blogger friends, and the people of Colorado, which so far has been the hardest hit by fires.
I hope for a peaceful summer here in the U. S., like the ones I remember from my childhood in Sweden. Should this not be the case, remember:
The human spirit is stronger that anything that happens to it. ~ Unknown
Oh my, the flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Inger. I wish the same thing.
ReplyDeleteRight now in Canada we are listening and hoping all the people in Alberta are doing OK with the mass evacuations because of heavy flooding. With Colorado fires and flooding here it is a hard start to summer.
Take care Hug B
Such a lovely image Inger -- my thoughts have been wandering to Colorado and Canada lately too.
ReplyDeleteit has already been such a brutal season, and it's only just begun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden shot, Inger! Not to mention another fantastic header photo!!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely.
ReplyDeleteNature has become a quite violent these days. It seems no place is totally spared and is subject to its own demons.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to those who have lost so much.
There does seem to be weather related incidents happening all over. Some are seasonal, but a lot of areas are in trouble.
ReplyDeleteIn Canada, the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, next to us going eastward, there is a lot of flooding from the rivers. Flash floods and churning waters. In British Columbia (my home province) we are safe.
The simplicity of that window shot is calming. Flowers always cheer me up.
I just saw the flooding in Calgary on TV this evening. I didn't know how bad it is there too. Summer is just beginning and weather events have been brutal.
ReplyDeleteThat photo I took of the seven wildflowers I picked on Midsummer's Eve 2005 is one of my most favorite pictures. Swedish tradition has it that if you pick seven wildflowers on that night and place them under your pillow, you will dream of the man you will marry. Since I already met mine, I just left them in a vase in the window and preserved them in a photo.
Those pics are great but we REALLY like that first one!

ReplyDeleteHi Inger .. love the thought of both summers - yet that weather is so strange everywhere .. I hope everyone will be well - it's all over the world .. floods in India, floods in Christchurch NZ apart from yours in the States .. fires too ..
ReplyDeleteLove both photos .. cheers Hilary
These pictures are lovely, I think midsummer is what I miss the most from home.
ReplyDeleteyou get a big WOW! for that last photo, so beautiful. and I am wishing with you that our summer will not be like the winter was. enough disasters for a lifetime..
ReplyDeleteWe often complain about the weather here in the UK but thankfully we normally have moderate issues. Those tornadoes look terrifying.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a lovely post. I'll be putting up my midsummer photos tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThe weather was warm here - for once!
Hi Inger just checking in to see what you are up to. I love the magical new photo as your header I think fairies are living there around the rocks.
ReplyDeleteThe fires in Colorado have just been devastating for these people. My son and his wife live near the Black Forest, and we often drove through it. It's such a beautiful area, I can't imagine how it looks now. I hope you get your peaceful summer, Inger, with no California wildfires this year!
ReplyDeleteToday I feel as if you have given us all a GREAT Blessing.
ReplyDeletethank you!

ReplyDeleteSweden looks like a beautiful country, I hope to visit someday. I love the quote you used, it's very true. I have wrote it down in my diary so I can remember it. I hope you are having a great day Inger! (or will have tomorrow because I'm not certain on the time difference!)

Dear Inger, those two photographs of Sweden in mid-summer are so serene. Truly like a painting that will greet guests when they visit you and learn that you are a native of Sweden and have brought here to the United States your great love of animals and your heartfelt compassion for others.
