E is for East

My Theme for the A to Z Challenge: Desert Canyon Living

East is the general direction of sunrise; it is the direction of the earth's daily rotation; and the part of the sky in which celestial bodies rise.

Sunrise is my favorite part of the day. I placed my old bench facing east so I can go out there and sit in the mornings, watching the sun clear the eastern mountain range. This may be a luxury of retired life in the country, but even with kids, a demanding job, and busy mornings try to begin your day with a quiet moment of gratitude for a new day.

Note: My regular features: Sunday Morning Reflections, Tuesday's Treasures, Wednesday's Book, and Samson Says will not appear until May. (Samson Says: Good, I need a break, Mommy. Hope Gracie won't forget me and go back to that Max dog!)

  10. I'm so mad I made a typo! Well, it has been fixed now. I'm so glad you could relate to this post and I admire those of you, like Trisha, with young kids who still find time to slow down in their busy lives. I am also glad you liked the photo. No, Annette, it is from a late February snow fall. It's overcast here today, but not that cold.

  12. Stunning photograph! I love it. This is such a relaxing place to be. Beautiful animal pictures. Animals are wonderful. They make no judgments. If you love them, they're devoted to you.

I tell myself take time to enjoy such things as animals and sunsets. Your blog has reminded me. Thanks! I'm now a follower. (I found you through the A to Z.)

  13. Not being a morning person (but, of course, I'm married to one) sunrise is something I normally see only before I'm very late in going to sleep. Your photo of the sunrise seen through the bare winter tree is exquisite!

I live in somewhat similar circumstances so I can allow myself to enjoy the sunrise and be thankful to be around to watch it.

  24. Hi Inger. I love mornings, coffee, and quiet time. This photo is beautiful. I envy the serenity you can enjoy being outdoors. I live on a busy street, and I miss quiet country life that I once had. I used to take my coffee and Bible out early in the mornings but now it's too noisy where I live to enjoy :(

I am enjoying you A-Z challenge... But I decided not to do it because I'm too busy to get caught up. Gracie says "hi" Samson... doggie kisses your way!! Gracie did get excited when she saw Max today and she started barking but I think she was just telling him to get out of her life, that she has found someone new.

  27. Wonderful shot. Me too. I love to watch the sun do its magic both in the morning and when it gets tired of the day and goes to bed. Both times are usually awesome.
