My theme for the A to Z challenge: Desert Canyon Living
A short, simple, post today. Oatmeal is my breakfast of choice. I eat it every day with berries, nuts, some Fiber One thrown in and ginger sprinkled over it. Sometimes, I alternate and sprinkle cinnamon on top and, if my blood sugars are low enough, I cut up a banana and add. Then I add milk or soy milk and have my coffee on the side. After my oatmeal breakfast, I'm ready to start my day and enjoy my desert canyon life.
I only seem to gravitate to oatmeal in the winters when I need warming up. I lean more to the cold cereals with banana. :)
ReplyDeleteGood breakfast. Cody dog and I eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning too. Only cody has her vegetable stew, bison meat, egg, carrot juice, oil and wormer added. She eats better than I do. tee hee
ReplyDeleteAha! I need to show this post to my boys. They think they are the only ones in the Whole Wide World that have to start the day with "porridge":)))
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite breakfast- I'll join you:0)
My hub loves oatmeal for breakfast. I kinda, sometimes like it. (But I'm not that fond of mushy foods; don't know why.)
ReplyDeleteYummm that is my breakfast of choice! I sweeten mine with a bit of maple syrup!
ReplyDeleteI love hot cereals. One of my great memories is going to an Audubon camp (as an adult) quite a few years ago. The cook was into natural cereals. He made the most interesting varieties of hot cereals. Something different every morning. They were hearty and in the Maine spring, warming!
ReplyDeleteI used to always eat oatmeal for breakfast (I did mine with a few dark chocolate chips, some peanut butter, flax seeds and chia seeds) but I think I overdid it and now I'm sick of it. I haven't been able to eat oatmeal for about 2 months. Maybe next winter I'll take to it again.
ReplyDeleteHi Inger-I like in the winter, summer it's something a bit cooler.
ReplyDeleteA simple but yummy post. I like oatmeal plain, with nothing in it. Being lazy, I use instant. Yours looks like the kind you have to cook. Have a peaceful day----Fran
ReplyDeletesince my dad resupplied us with fresh maple syrup, i've been enjoying oatmeal nearly every morning as well! and it's still plenty chilly here in wisconsin to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteOatmeal is an excellent choice---it is very healthy and also filling. Plus, you are getting your fruit, too. Good way to start your day!
ReplyDeleteI also tend to eat oatmeal in winter only. I prefer toast normally but will soon be buying oats for the first time this winter...almost cold enough.Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! LOVE oatmeal!! I load it up with mix berries, bananas, & brown sugar :) We eat it all year round!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about oatmeal as a cold weather dish. Since I can't eat sugar or sugary cereals I ended up with oatmeal. I cook mine in the microwave, actually. I refuse to do anything, including cooking, until after I eat my breakfast. Thanks for your comments.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I love oatmeal!!! I like mine with a little maple syrup and brown sugar.
ReplyDeleteYUM! Oatmeal is also on my preferred list of breakfast foods, but I also like eggs and grits so I guess I have a couple. At one of my WW meetings a woman said she adds protein to her day by adding a tablespoon of peanut butter to her oatmeal; never thought of that!
ReplyDeleteHappy day Inger!
I love oatmeal too - with brown sugar, raisins, banana, berries, granola... the kitchen sink I guess! Yum!!
ReplyDeleteEvery now and then I make myself a breakfast of oatmeal too. I eat it with milk and sugar. Don't know why I don't do it more often ... I really like it. Most of the time I just have yoghurt for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....I just cannot eat oatmeal. Well, I can but it requires a lot of butter :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip...I'm going to try Ginger on it, Inger...:)JP
ReplyDeleteOatmeal, Cheerios and other oat cereal is the way we do breakfast now. I will try ginger now. Great tip. My husband eats candied ginger all the time. We did try nutmeg. It tastes good, but is very strong. Next time I will just put tiny bit.
ReplyDeleteNever did I think I would get this many comments on my oatmeal. I have loved reading what you eat for breakfast. I changed from cinnamon to ginger because it is supposed to be good for arthritis and I believe that now. Plus it tastes so good. I eat Cheerios every now and then because they are not too sweet either.
ReplyDeleteOK, Inger, don't laugh at me, but please tell me how to cook oatmeal in the microwave. I use instant and I'd rather make it, but I don't have time - lots of critters to feed in the morning. But I've got time for the microwave!
ReplyDeleteLove O.....atmeal!
ReplyDeletePS sorry you had a problem with my comment section...what exactly happened and did it take awhile to fix it?
I tend to eat it with sugar (or stevia), walnuts, and a touch of butter. The more it is like a cookie, the more I tolerate it. (I treat myself occasionally and put in chocolate chips and walnuts. This obviously doesn't occur often.)
ReplyDeleteCat
Oatmeal is the BEST. Usually I eat it daily for breakfast. But on a different diet for awhile.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious - good for you as well. I often start the day with fruit and yogurt.
ReplyDeletemmm, mmm, good!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a staple in our house! Must be the Scottish blood!
