Sunday Morning Reflections

I continue to believe that in order for there to be givers there must be receivers. So when we let ourselves receive we give to others. That is, we let them give to us. True grace in every way.
~ Dee Ready

A special thank you to those of you who commented on my post of yesterday. Your comments and friendship mean so much to me. I am glad that I let my strong feelings regarding this child be known.

  1. A beautiful & inciteful quote from Dee. I never thought of giving & receiving quite that way.

  2. Hi Inger - giving and receiving .. by being we give and receive - it may not be obvious sometimes, but we do - when we can stop and just be.

I do hope you all continue to improve .. with thoughts for the week ahead .. cheers Hilary

  7. Jättefin bild....nu är vi hemma från Österrike och det var skönt att komma hem till vovvarna som blev så glada så. De har haft det bra hos våra hundvakter. Hoppas du mår bra nu...

  9. That is an intriguing sunrise, Inger. It feels both hopeful and desolate at the same time. (Or my comments say I'm a bit mixed up.)

  10. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. You are right. Terry and David are wonderful people, and I am fortunate to have met them!
I didn't see yesterday's post until now. I have seen people at their best and worst in racially mixed communities. It is wonderful to see children of all races playing together in the school yard. But you are right, parents teach their values to their children and it isn't always pretty or nice.
I almost cried when my son, at 8 years old, asked if it was alright for Jevon to come over and play... and then felt he had to qualify it by telling me Jevon was Black. I was thrilled that my son had friends of all colors, but I was horrified that he felt he needed to ask if it was OK. Even though many of my friends and colleagues were of different races, I guess he just never saw that side of me and wasn't sure.

  13. Great truth in that. I once had a boyfriend who constantly gave me gifts. He said it was because I was so excited by each gift that it was a pleasure for him to give.

  15. Dear Inger, . . . I'm gratified that the quote spoke to you. Actually, the first sentence is from a friend of mine--Yvette--who said it to me when I had Meniere's Disease so badly. I was bemoaning the fact that I had to ask for so much help. That first sentence was Yvette's response. It totally turned around what I was feeling--which was that I was so needy. She helped me accept the graciousness of others. Peace.

PS: I hope you are feeling better and I applaud your posting on Friday. We need people to be passionate about justice.

  17. I like that quote. It's difficult to receive, but a very needful skill. On the other end, there are people who are too good at it - people who wait for others to take care of them when they are already capable.

    Have a good week. :)
