New Cups And Strangers Cheer Me Up

I was recently diagnosed with asthma. A mild case, but I need to use an inhaler, which I really don't like, but it could be worse, of course.

To cheer myself up, I bought these colorful cups.

The other day, a kind young woman at our local small DMV office fixed all my problems with the Motor Vehicle Department: changed my mailing address, gave me a set of license plates, affixed the 2022 stickers, found a screwdriver in an office drawer, went outside and screwed the plates in place on my car.

I thanked her and she said she wouldn't let her own grandmother bend down to do that job, so she needed to help.

Then I went to the post office to pick up a package or two. One was medical supplies, the other was gigantic! I looked at it and shook my head. The clerk asked if I wanted a cart. I was going to say yes, when the guy behind me in line offered to bring it out for me. I accpeted and thanked him. Short man, big package, but he mananged. (It was a badly needed new kitchen trash can.)

As I drove off, I felt my bad mood lift, my negative thinking fly away thanks to the helpfulness of strangers.

I truly need to get out more, interact with strangers more, talk to people I meet in the stores, as I did before the pandemic.

I used to have so much fun, just going to the grocery store.

About the mailboxes from my last post:

1. They have been replaced by a modern structure and are now all locked.

2. The road has been paved.

3. It's nowhere close to me, it's farther into the canyon.

4. Finally, I'm very happy I captured that shot, sort of from a bygone time.

The grocery store offers interaction which is better than nothing, these days when we keep more to home because of the pandemic.

  4. Hi Inger - those cups are delightful to see - they'll cheer each cuppa you have. I'm glad you're coming to terms with asthma and find the inhaler helpful. People are amazing aren't they - when they go out of their way to help ... so pleased for you. New pedal bin, new cups, medicines delivered - new postboxes ... but I loved the historic photo. Cheers and enjoy your Autumnal days in the Canyon. Hilary

  6. Love your interactions with kind people. I have found since my hair went white, I can no longer lift anything in public and truthfully, I love it. Enjoy.
Like I said in a past post, check that inhaler via Google to make sure it doesn't have any interactions with any other meds you take. We often have to do our own research.

  10. People showing kindness to others make the world go round! This is what we were put here to do, help and love others. With the way the world is now, it seems to be going in the other direction, though. Hurrah for getting all your car things taken care of!

  11. Kindness from those we do not know is such a huge bonus these days, and the letter box photo, guess some would call it progress to have a different setting, they were unique. Our oversize parcels get left at the local Post Shop, and we get a notice in our mailbox to say they are waiting. In a small town, they ladies get to know everyone, and when I get to the counter, almost have the parcel ready on the counter.

  14. Hi Inger. Sorry I haven't stopped by in a while. In my wildest dreams, I can't imagine someone from my local DMV helping install a plate on someone's car. I guess that's one of the advantages of rural living. Hope you are well. Beautiful cups!
