This will be just a short note to let you know that exactly one year, to the day, after I broke my upper arm, falling over my dog, I ended up in the emergency room once again. So what did I do this time? Well, I had a bronchial infection. So I coughed and coughed and, I guess, I coughed once too often. I've been in a terrible pain since Sunday or Monday, so yesterday hubby took me to the ER here at our small town hospital. That's pretty much all we have in terms of hospital care in our town -- anything more involved and you go to Bakersfield, 50 miles away.
I didn't have to wait long. After talking to the ER doctor, he ordered a CAT-scan of my lower back. The results came back positive for a couple of millimeters fracture of one of the lower back vertebrae. And something happened to the disc as well. I need to see some doctors about this, but I don't think there is much they will do right away. My husband had to go to L. A. today about some work and he has something important to see to on Monday, so I told him to leave. I'll stay in bed, take pain meds , sleep, read, and rest. Sometimes it's nice to just be alone when sick.
Fortunately, the library was open yesterday, so we stopped by and I picked up five easy to read books.
I was so happy to see that four new followers signed up since I opened my blog last. Welcome, and I hope to soon be back to normal. Book reviews and more serious stuff will have to wait. I'm posting this because I know my regular followers, who have become friends over the past year, will worry if they don't hear from me.
Samson, our Samoyed, is a good doctor -- he is a very attentive dog and when he thinks something is wrong with you, he'll give you a thorough ear cleaning. So I have that to look forward to. He's working on Angel in the picture above. Anyway, Samson will help me blog. He is working on his post about his vet visit, so that's coming up.
I can't leave without saying thank you, Julie at: http://julieflanders.blogspot.com for this Stylish Blogger Award. I really appreciate it and will come up with the seven things about me and those I want to forward this award to soon.
I'm a bit loaded on Vicodin right now -- I was hoping you wouldn't be able to tell.......
More later, I'm back to bed. I hope you all have a great day!
Oh no. So sorry to hear that. I hope you heal quickly and are soon feeling much better.ReplyDelete
We went to Bakersfield once - just passing through while on vacation - but I recall we stopped at a Chinese buffet there, lol.
you poor thing...take care of yourself...will keep you in my prayers...ReplyDelete
What a way to celebrate your mishap from last year! I hope it doesn't become a habit ;))ReplyDelete
Take good care of you and I am sure once your ears will be thoroughly cleaned, you'll be OK :)
Gosh, but I hope you feel better soon, Inger. Lower back problems are supposed to be beyond painful. I'm sending you lots of healing wishes.ReplyDelete
I am sorry that you got so hurt! Hope the medication will give you relief, and I will be praying for you to get better fast!ReplyDelete
Lately, I've had too much (problems to solve and worries to deal with) in my mind. I apologise for not commenting on your posts as often as I should have.
Take good care.
Oh my goodness! That just sucks. Get better soon, dear Inger.ReplyDelete
Poor baby!! My husband once cracked a rib while coughing & I know how much pain it caused him. I guess the card about Nurses Week is really appropriate. Don't be afraid to take as much Vicodin as you need & REST, REST, REST!!! (And let Samson get those ears clean!)ReplyDelete
Sounds like your having a rough time at the moment, hope your feeling better soon.ReplyDelete
Inger...you always amaze me with your energy, even in the face of mishaps. Have a lovely weekend.ReplyDelete
oh dearheart! i'm so sorry about your back and horrible, hurtful coughing! ugh!ReplyDelete
Well, Inger, if it isn't one thing, it's two. I hope they can figure out what to do and in the mean time, you are on the right track - pain meds and bed rest! I hope they gave you something for the infection - so the coughing stops!ReplyDelete
Thinking of you, get rest and get well!
oh, what an awful setback. what you need is one more dog. a saint bernard that carries a small barrel of "medicine" around it's neck.ReplyDelete
I too hope the culprit in all this, the infection is also being treated.ReplyDelete
Back pain is miserable and hope they find an answer soon. Do take care.
At least thanks to Samson you will have clean ears.
Oh my gosh! I've heard of people breaking ribs when they coughed, but not damaging vertabrae. I can't begin to imagine the pain. I am so sorry.ReplyDelete
Rest. Take care.
Oh no Inger! I hope the meds help to keep the pain at bay. Get better soon!ReplyDelete
No wonder you were in such pain. It's always something, isn't it, when we get to a certain age. We are well past that age and send best wishes and smiles to you. Hope this won't be too long and drawn out for you. Samson, take good care of mommy.ReplyDelete
That was some coughing fit! Take care and hope the pain eases soon. Love those dogs and glad to hear they're taking good care of you.ReplyDelete
Take care of yourself! Take it slow and easy---those coughing spells will really throw some things out of whack. God bless.ReplyDelete
You're very welcome for the award, Inger, and I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. I'm glad Samson is taking care of you, and he did an fantastic job on his blog post!ReplyDelete
Inger, please take care of yourself. Your blogger friends will still be here when you are well. Sending healing thoughts your way!ReplyDelete
