The fire to the north of us has burned 12,500 acres and is 85% contained with full containment expected this weekend. Thanks to great efforts by firefighters, over 800 of them, and mild winds, the fire did not reach our canyon. Firefighters are my heroes and I am so grateful for all the work they do here in the heat, every summer without fail. They camp out in their fire camps, they get up early or stay up all night working, patrolling, piloting helicopters and on and on. Thank you so much for all that you do.

  6. Vilken bild! Snyggt jobbat.

  7. Glad to hear the firefighters are corralling that nasty fire. It's tough work, indeed. Thanks for the support; the guys appreciate it.

Too bad humans couldn't learn to share the way those critters do.

Hey; where's the picture of Samson?

  9. Glad to hear they are getting a handle on the fire there. Guess we will be seeing our bill from State Board of Equalization soon on $150 Fire Tax, hope it goes towards Cal Fire and not spent somewhere else in the Governor's Budget

  12. Great photo, Inger! And I join you in saluting the brave men and women who sacrifice much to protect us. We don't do anything by ourselves. It takes all of us working together. And it goes without saying I'm relieved your canyon is safe. These fires spread as if stroked by Dante.

  15. Glad to hear that the fires should be contained. We drove by one in Washington - and we saw quite a bit of scorched land on all of our travels. It is so dry everywhere we have been. It's scary!
