I am overwhelmed by your kindness and thoughtfulness, thank you so much for your comments on Samson's post yesterday. Lately, bloggers I don't know have commented on my posts. I appreciate your comments so much and I will get back to all of you. I am looking forward to reading new blogs and, of course, I'm feeling guilty because I haven't responded soon enough.
I was sitting here yesterday afternoon, thinking I had to write something and nothing came to me. Sometimes with diabetes, when life gets too much, your brain fogs over and that's what happened. There's a scientific reason for that, but never mind for now. Then Samson came up to me, sat down, put both his front paws in my lap and looked at me expectantly. He does this when he wants his chest scratched. He helped me a lot and I decided to let him write for me and it worked. And letting him complain about his water bottle, made me smile.
My friend Jody was more than eleven years younger than I and that hurts because I feel she had so much left of life to live. She fought a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. I first met Jody at UCLA in the early 1970s. In the mid-80s, we spent a lot of time together with my husband and Jody's baby daughter, hiking, sailing, eating good food and doing the things that good friends do. Jody moved to Seattle in 1991 to create a better environment for her daughter. Jody was a deeply spiritual person, always searching. I could talk to her in a way I couldn't to most people. We would have the deepest, most soul searching conversations.
Vilka fina bilder! Vi tänker på dig. Här har det varit regn o sol, sol o regn idag....
ReplyDeleteYou are fortunate in many ways--to have a friend like Jody & a dog like Samson, who is not only beautiful but loves you & is also clever enough to write your posts!
ReplyDeleteGracious as always, Inger. It's funny when animals sense our feelings. I had a cat that could do that.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to lose a close friend or anyone close to us. Time helps, but I find writing about that person helps me.
Inger, I am so, so sorry about the loss of your friend. A few years ago, I lost someone whose friendship was also intricately woven into the fabric of my life, just as your friend Jody was. I hope you are finding comfort in your memories and in knowing that her spiritual search has ended, and she has found peace.
ReplyDeleteHello Inger - a beautiful tribute to Jody.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your blog - the main picture is stunning.
samson is such a sweet boy. :) i love the last 2 photos - such beauty.
ReplyDeletemy mil died of multiple myeloma, but hers was only a 3 1/2 mo. battle (once it was diagnosed, anyway). i am sorry for your friend's daughter.
my aunt died from myeloma, but she was in her 70's when it hit her. it was the first I ever heard of it and that was in 1985. since them there are so many with it. I enjoyed your sweet memories of your friend and I know she would be so proud to be remembered on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing a little bit about Jody. And what a good friend Samson is to comfort you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Inger, and it's nice to remember our dear ones. Samson is so adorable. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute to your friend Inger.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for the loss of your friend.
ReplyDeleteSuch kind words for an obviously wonderful friend!
ReplyDeleteAgain, condolences. I hope her daughter is well, and manages through this.
And thanks, Samson, for sharing. You're a great help to your mom.
It's very sad to lose a good friend like you did. I love your photos today so serene and I know what that dry air feels like there and the smells too I do miss those!
ReplyDeleteDespite your loss, you can still have wonderful conversations with Jody. Sometimes you will even hear her responses. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss, Inger.
ReplyDeleteSamson is turning into quite a good therapy dog.
This is such a nice remembrance... How blessed you and Jody were to have one another's friendship!
ReplyDeleteDear Inger, thank you for sharing your friend Jody with us. She sounds like an exceptional human being. I hope the good memories you have of your friendship with her will comfort you in the days and weeks ahead. Peace.
ReplyDeleteDog = God
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
Love,
Janie
Oh I am so sorry Inger. Hug B
ReplyDeleteDogs know! They pick up the energy we are giving out. Sophie did the same for me last week when I wasn't feeling well. She got up and came into the room and put both paws on my arm. I thought Ron sent her in.....he didn't.
ReplyDeleteTake care and let Samson help you through.
Oh, that 3rd photos of the hills/mountains and hazy sky is absolutely beautiful. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteSweet Inger....we are not unaffected by multiple myeloma either. My Mom succumbed to this cancer in 1998. Jim and I took care of her throughout the entire time 1995-1998 that she endured this. We know what you are feeling and going through perhaps in a different way but we understand your loss. Please take all the time to grieve your sweet friend,Jody.
ReplyDeletePeace to you Inger!
Ron
My first dog as a newlywed was Shelby a Samoyed. He looked nearly identical to Samson. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Jody, but I can feel your pain way over here. When people touch our hearts, it's forever.
