Me: Samson, let me give you some more water.
Samson: Thanks, mommy.
Hubby (from living room): What'd you say, honey?
Me: Oh, I was just talking to Samson.
Hubby: He's a dog, are you losing you mind?
Me: Beats talking to myself.
Samson: Good thing daddy doesn't know about Gracie, Puddles, Sophie, Disco and all the other dogs you talk to online, mommy.
Me (whisper): Samson, you are so right about that. Our secret, OK?
Samson: Sure, mommy ~ maybe I can get a tiny treat if I keep our secret?
Me (loud): Dogs!
Hubby: Are you talking to me?
Me: Never mind!
~ The End ~
Loved this, Inger. I've always talked to my pets, too. I think they understand more than some humans realize. I got that same reaction when Sid (the cat I wrote about at the link below) was visiting. Hubs kept asking if I was talking to him.

The dogs and I have conversations all the time..I see nothing weird about that!
ReplyDeleteI talk to my dogs all the time and they never make smart crack back at me. :-)
ReplyDeletethis had me laughing out loud!!! ha ha ha! so good and so true!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like my conversations with Bud--& we don't even have a dog!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha va kul...
ReplyDeleteKram från oss!
smiling now at the conversation and the beautiful face in the photos. and both of us talk to both dogs all day long, as much or more than we talk to each other. we also talk to our ownselves A LOT
ReplyDeleteMy dogs are my best listeners and they never judge me or tell me I'm wrong! :-)
ReplyDeleteAt least you are talking to dogs - I'm always just talking to myself!
ReplyDeleteMoon and Copper and I discuss our plans for the day each morning, Sampson!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteDoesn't everyone talk to their dog? Mighty is so use to me talking to him that when I am on the phone he gets confused by all the strange words.
ReplyDeleteThis is so TRUE, Samson!
ReplyDeleteDOG ~~~ too funny!
Doggy Secrets are for you and us puppies, right!
We'll have lots to talk about the rest of this year, won't we Samson Honey!
Sophie Doodle 1/2 Poodle here!
Sounds like the same conversations that go on in my house.
ReplyDeleteThe Z-Boys and I have scintillating conversations here in Dogtown. I can tell Samson is an excellent conversationalist.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Dr. Dolittle has nothing on you, Inger! You and Samson speak your own language. I like that. :-) I hope you're feeling well and taking good care of yourself.
ReplyDeletewhat a surprise! I saw a comment you left on Rob-Bears site that mentioned you had samoyeds. and I knew I had to stop by. And the post I happened to drop in on had pictures of you dog! I had Samoyeds all through my childhood, and absolutely love them. I think I shall become a follower!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Love it!! (Gracie loves it too!)
ReplyDeleteMy husband talks to the television! Much more sensible to talk to the dogs methinks!
ReplyDeleteI talk to my dogs quite a bit actually. They always agree with me so why not!
ReplyDeleteWell of course you are having a conversation - Dexter is our best co worker ever - we havent been eaten by a mountain lion or bear yet!
ReplyDeleteAh Samson is learning the fine art of Dog extortion! Dexter has master the quietest of howls when he catches me in the treat drawer at home - i have to give him a treat of his to quiet him otherwise he goes from a soft howl to a full on bark...samoyeds are the smartest dogs ever!
Happens daily at my house. Would be strange if it didn't. :)
ReplyDeleteDogs are always the best to converse with! Lol
ReplyDeleteDear Inger, I not only talk to the cats, I sing to them while doing a little jig! Peace.
