On Monday, I went to town to run some errands and take some pictures of the surrounding countryside. It's been a while since I posted photos of nature there, so different from ours in the canyon, yet only about 15 miles away. Our canyon is only about 10 miles and 1,000 feet above the Mojave Desert and nature here reflects that proximity, while in town and to the west and south, nature is more typical California countryside with mature oaks, green grass, apple orchards, and this time of year, lilac bushes and California poppies in full bloom.
I had a wonderful afternoon and got more pictures for later posts.
Poppies are my all-time favorite flowers!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful flowers Inger! The best from Sweden.
ReplyDeletesuch a gorgeous color! just so 'alive' and joyous.
ReplyDeleteYou had an enjoyable trip, taking in all the beautiful nature along the way. The yellow of the poppies is vibrant and stirs the soul. Our landscapes have similar features.
ReplyDeleteThose poppies--& your pictures of them--are PURE GOLD!!
ReplyDeleteCalifornia Poppies are so inspiring for me...it's one of the plants I planted first when we started our garden 20 years ago...they have long gone now but I do remember their cheeriness and whimsical fluttering!

Ah, I'm homesick. I remember seeing tons of poppies dotting the highway on our way to school when I lived in California. They're so gorgeous. Thank you for bringing up such pleasant memories for me today:)

I always love CA poppies, when I was a kid we used to see whole fields just covered in them.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing fields full of CA poppies in the rolling hills. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week. :)
De här orangea vallmo-blommorna är otroligt vackra, bladen ser så släta ut jämfört med de vi har.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of the california poppy in Central Otago. Look at this link.
