Some glasses and china plates that I treasure, but never use any more. There are more of them than are shown here and since they are a pleasure to look at, they will not fall victim to my spring cleaning/purging efforts. Maybe I should make a point of using the pretty glasses at least for Sunday dinner. I used to do things like that but since we moved up here, I haven't. A little elegance in the country wouldn't hurt, I guess.

Beautiful crystal! But I hear you. I've started using mine, and it really does perk up a boring roast.
ReplyDeleteI have some glasses just like that....they were my Mom's and like you...I never use them.
ReplyDeletei say haul them out and use 'em. :)
ReplyDeleteInger,
ReplyDeleteHave you recovered from the Challenge? I took a few days off and started back playing catch up but that's okay, it was well worth the fun I had! I thank you again for sharing your native Sweden with us and so many aspects of it. I loved it! Gosh, I learned so much!
I love the sunset below...and about those glases, I now plan on giving my son his milk in a wine glass...HE is worth it and so are you!
When my granddaughters were 6 or 7 years old, I started using my china, crystal & silver when they were here for dinner. We loved it--& they never broke anything. If they had, I decided it wouldn't have been the end of the world. They are just THINGS! Beautiful things, but things, none the less. Use--& enjoy--yours!
ReplyDeleteI vote use them, mother saved hers "for good" and never used them, then she died and i gave them to my sons wife. hope she uses them. they are pretty to look at, so that is a useful use of them.
ReplyDeleteOh, do use them. They are made to be used and you to use them! Elegance is always charming, whether in a tent, a cabin, a palace -- wherever you are!
ReplyDeleteHi Inger - I did love your Swedish posts and tour .. I'm sure I missed one or two and must go back.
ReplyDeleteThese look just wonderful and ready for a glass of vino - definitely use them - you love them .. and the plates - I recently gave all mine to a friend, who loves 'fine' things .. and I know she'll appreciate them.
It give me a chance to go rustic in due course!
Cheers Hilary
I must let you know that your comments make me smile, make me happy, make me so glad to have started to blog. I decided to try Picasa for my photos, so I have been figuring it out this morning and used it for my next few blogs. I have to also change to the new format so I can make a few design changes to my blog. I am so glad you enjoyed my A to Z, Tracy.
ReplyDeleteHilary, our comments passed each other. Just wanted to say that I enjoyed your A to Z castles so much and I'm glad you enjoyed Sweden. I plan to put it in my Pages. I just learned I could have assigned them there automatically. Darned! But now I know for the future.
ReplyDeleteWell like I say these days I ain't gettin any younger what am I waiting for? Use the darn glasses Inger and enjoy life with them. Nan
ReplyDeleteDear Inger, . . . I encourage you to use those plates and glasses if their beauty pleases you. When I moved three years ago, I spent $4,000 fixing up the house in the way that I"d wanted it to be for 32 years. Why did I do that for strangers and not for myself?
ReplyDeleteAnd so I think we need to be good to ourselves and enjoy the beauty around us--and those glasses and plates are beautiful.
Peace.
Very pretty. I wouldn't use them yet because of my kids.
ReplyDeleteOh Inger, you have to use those - they are beautiful!! and you are so worth it :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I vote use them...life is too short not to.
ReplyDeleteHow does your husband feel about crystal & china? The Pres gives me a hard time when I take it out...BUT I still use it!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteLovely glasses. I was only saying to Mr A this morning that we should use our best crockery more often. When my Mum died last year I found an old tea service. Dad had bought it some time back in the 1960s but they never used it because it was best! when I picked a cup up the handle fell off. It was the same with the milk jug. At home we use old mugs that don't match. It's time we started using our best stuff!
ReplyDeleteYour crystal looks exactly like my crystal. I don't use mine very much because I'm so clumsy and have a talent for breaking things.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie Lola
They are too pretty not to use. My vote is to enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments -- I will definitely think of you all and use them as soon as I get my dining room table cleared. I'm in a big mess, cleaning up my life, which means it has landed on the table. I love the word crockery, Rosalind! I love the idea of dining with your grandkids, using your best stuff, fishducky. My husband wouldn't mind, he would probably feel his good cooking deserves the best looking table. And he would be right.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have some treasures I rarely use. Hmmm.... why not?! Maybe I should use them now and then! Just like you should enjoy your's!
Klart du skall använda dem. Ingen nytta att stå i ett skåp o samla damm.
ReplyDeleteHur mår vovvarna??
Too pretty to just leave to someone after you are gone... use them and enjoy them! :)
