Me, alone. Life after loss.
Literature - our great archive of human expression... ~ Sven Birkerts
After Errol died, I knew needed something to distract me, to entertain me, so I bought a Kindle Fire. I never owned an ipad or a laptop and since I love to read, and I was an established Amazon customer, I felt this was the way to go. Not to mention the price. I also became an Amazon Prime member, so now I can watch free movies, free TV shows, read free books, read the Washington Post (becoming an addiction) and play solitare (also becoming an addiction) from the comfort of my bed.
I never had this before and I love my Kindle Fire. What you get for $99.00, plus another $99.00 per year for the Prime membership is outstanding. In my opinion.......
this is great news.. so glad you got one.. it is like taking a tiny computer to bed with you and so easy to hold..
ReplyDeleteI love all the great quotes you are using during the challenge. Glad you got a device, and a program, you're happy with. I have a Kindle, but I use Netflix for watching my shows.

My sentiments exactly!!
DeleteI love my Amazon Fire, too! I did the 30-day trial for Amazon Prime and then cancelled it because all the movies I wanted to watch cost extra money. Maybe I'll give it a try again sometime!
ReplyDeleteMy mum is always on hers, they are great!
ReplyDeleteI love Amazon Prime. I have a smart TV that shows whatever I want from Amazon Prime with the press of a button. The TV was a gift. I couldn't afford it! It's hard to be alone. Your loss is very different from mine because you love your husband, but I think of divorce as the death of our family. It will never again be the four of us.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I have a Nook Color but it is starting to show it's age. Maybe I will get a Kindle next!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great gift to yourself and you are more tecky than me. I still do not have a Kindle but I have a laptop and play solitaire too when I need some diversion or just need to sit down for a rest. It's addictive like you said.
ReplyDeletehave a great day.
Hugs,
JB.
Yep, you got a good deal and the entertainment is well worth it.
ReplyDeleteI mostly use mine for travel -- easier than packing books.

Agreed!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I would rather read a book on my iPad than in a paper book. I can adjust the print and brightness and it seems that I read them quicker than in book form. I also don't have a pile of books taking up room in my house. I only read books once and then either give them away or put them in our street book kiosk. I am grateful to Amazon
ReplyDeletePrime for making things easier in my life.
I totally agree! I don't use my Kindle, instead I use the Kindle app on my iphone 6+. I live in a rural area and get most of our stuff shipped PRIME. I also am a Kindle Unlimited member. I love AMAZON so much!
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from the A to Z Challenge.

Hi Inger - I'm so pleased you were able to distract yourself .. and the Kindle Fire certainly offers much - I still love my books - but that might change ... thanks too for the overview of the Kindle Fire ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI love my Kindle and also Amazon Prime.
ReplyDeleteIf my house is on fire, my kindle will be in one hand and my pets tucked under each arm as I run out the door. Mine isn't a Fire, just a 2nd generation--maybe the next one will be a Fire. What an amazing invention and I'm so glad you have one to give you pleasure and entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI also have a Kindle Fire and LOVE it! I use it so much! So glad you are enjoying yours as well!
