Love doesn't make the world go 'round.
Love makes the ride worthwhile.

This is an old photo of Bandit, who passed away in 2008, and Angel. These two dogs loved it each so much and they were best friends for nine years.
Last night Angel was sleeping on the floor and my husband and I were talking. In our conversation, in a normal tone of voice, he mentioned Bandit's name. Angel immediately woke up, jumped up, and looked around. Bandit has been gone for more than two and a half years. It was heartbreaking to see her jump up like that and I wondered what went through her mind. I know she doesn't think the way I do, but I also know love when I see it.
Oh heartbreaking...
ReplyDeleteOoh! Now that was sad. Poor Angel - poor you, to see her reaction.
ReplyDeleteGood Sunday, Inger!
Aw, that is so sweet and also sad because Angel is still in grief. I pray her little heart is mended soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this story makes me happy or sad. It is surely a sweet story. Good Sunday to you, Inger (and family).
ReplyDeleteOur dogs don't even seem to know who Carl is, (husband) so this is sweet that Angel remembers her best friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I didn't want to make this sad. Just a day before Valentines post about enduring love.
ReplyDeleteAngel is a very playful dog at the age of 12 1/2. And busy keeping Samson's attentions at bay and making sure all of us are safe and no bad guys are approaching our house. But it is obvious that a big part of her heart still belongs to Bandit.
Oh Inger,
ReplyDeleteBless his heart. I'ms certain he knew exactly who it was you were referring! Dogs are so smart and so intuitive~ isn't it grand?
I hope you are getting settled and have had a pleasant weekend!
Inger, dogs REMEMBER EVERYTHING. And Bandit is at Angel's side...don't you worry!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteYes, knowing that one 'friend' remembers another, even after death, makes me feel even more happy about the love of animals.
ReplyDeleteCat
awww she misses her buddy still
ReplyDeleteGive Angel a great big hug for me. (((hug)))
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious, but sad moment.
ReplyDeleteHow sad and who says animals do not love? Poor Angel!
ReplyDeleteDogs seem to have an amazing memory. It's a sweet story, how hearing the name triggered that.
ReplyDeleteAh, bless Angel's heart. Don't you wish you knew what they were thinking?
ReplyDeleteSp sweet.
I surely think she must have had a little moment remembering her long time buddy. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet story. Dogs truly have long memories:)
ReplyDeleteMocha Barney, Ashley Pumpernickel and Winniechurchill
So sad, but so very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI am a firm believer that dogs do remember. My husband passed in 2009 and I see his dog perk up whenever I mention his name. I know he misses his Daddy terribly just like I do.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting story!
