P is for Posting on My Blog, 2009 - Present

I wrote my first blog post (see below) on August 24, 2009 after the satellite that gave me internet service was installed.

Last Monday was the big day: the Wild Blue satellite arrived and was installed by two guys from Gilroy. They were pretty efficient and got everything working for me. So now that I have high-speed Internet, the time has come for me to finally start my blog. I have discussed this with Princess to see how she feels about having her own Dog Blog and she seems excited about it. You know I'll need a partner in crime and some help with all these new things.

I described my pets in the second post and it didn't take me long to realize that I had a wealth of nature and wildlife to photograph and post on my blog.

Those of you who read my blog now know that Samson helps me with a post of his own every now and then. But it was Princess, our Black Lab/Border Collie cross, that had the first dog blog here. She was older and wiser than Samson and my friends tell me this was reflected in her posts. The three dogs here, Angel, Princess and Soldier were so good together. Now only Soldier is left.

My first followers were friends who wanted to be supportive. Cindy faithfully left a comment each time I posted and kept encouraging me. As far as followers go, 13 people signed up to follow my blog. That was it, for the longest time.

I posted pictures of sunsets,

of laundry on the line,

of a rattlesnake,

and of my cool hat, but I still only had 13 followers. Was this a truly unlucky number for me? Then Barbee, the first follower I didn't know, helped me. She told me to check out many different blogs, leave comments, and if I liked a blog, sign up to follow it.

As I expanded out into Bloggyland, new followers came on board. Now I belong to a community of close blogger friends.

We care about each other, support each other, send prayers and good thoughts when someone is ill, pets included. Some of my blogger friends are so funny, all you can do is laugh out loud as you read their blogs. So it is pretty much the same as when you are with your friends outside of Bloggyland, except blogger friends you can meet up with in your pajamas. For someone my age, who doesn't run around like she once used to, this has been a wonderful gift.

So this post is for you, my blogger friends. You are the best, and I am so happy to have found you. I had no idea this would happen when I wrote that first post in August 2009.
